At HandiHomepage, we follow the Three Wise Monkeys principle: See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil — applied to your data. We collect absolutely nothing by default. This Privacy Policy explains our minimal data practices when you choose to use optional features.

🙈 See No Evil — What We DON'T Collect

Unlike most websites, we deliberately avoid collecting:

• No personal information — We don't ask for your name, email, address, or phone number unless you explicitly provide it for premium features
• No browsing history — We don't track which pages you visit or what you click
• No search history — Your private searches stay private (searches go directly to your chosen search engine)
• No location data — Unless you manually enter your location for weather or manually click "Detect My Location"
• No analytics cookies — We use Plausible Analytics (GDPR compliant, no cookies, no personal data)
• No tracking pixels — No Facebook, Google, or any third-party trackers

🙉 Hear No Evil — What We Don't Listen To

• No microphone access — We never request or use your microphone unless you explicitly provide it for premium features eg. voice commands
• No call recording — Premium call features use Infobip but we don't record or store calls
• No message monitoring — Matrix chat can be end-to-end encrypted; we cannot read your messages
• No passive data collection — We don't "listen" for data in the background

🙊 Speak No Evil — What We Never Share

• We never sell your data — We don't have any data to sell
• We never share with advertisers — There are no ads on HandiHomepage
• We never give data to third parties — Except when YOU explicitly use a third-party feature (see Section 5)
• We never send unsolicited emails — We don't have your email address

1. Data Collection — What Little We Actually Store

HandiHomepage stores only:

• Local Settings — Your preferences (weather approximate location, enabled modules, etc.) are stored in your browser's localStorage, NOT on our servers
• Uploaded Files — Images and music you upload are stored locally on your device or your own server (HandiHomepage does not host your files on external servers)
• Matrix Credentials — If you use Matrix chat, your access token is stored locally in your browser only
• Phone Contacts — Your SIM phone contacts are stored locally, never transmitted to us

2. Information You Explicitly Provide

The ONLY time we receive any information is when YOU voluntarily provide it for specific features:

• Weather Location — You manually enter a city name (stored locally, not on our servers)
• Current Location — If you click "Detect My Location," your browser asks permission, and coordinates are sent directly to OpenWeatherMap (not us)
• Premium Features — If you purchase Premium, your payment is processed by our payment provider (Stripe/PayPal). We only receive a confirmation, not your payment details
• Emergency Contacts — Phone numbers you add for emergency features are stored locally only
• Chat Credentials — Your Matrix homeserver and token are stored locally for chat functionality

3. Cookies & Local Storage

HandiHomepage uses:

• localStorage — To save your settings and preferences on your device. This never leaves your browser.
• No tracking cookies — We don't use cookies for tracking, analytics, or advertising.
• Session Storage — Temporary storage for active sessions (cleared when you close your browser).

4. Third-Party Services (When YOU Choose to Use Them)

HandiHomepage integrates with third-party services only when you explicitly enable them. Each has its own privacy policy:

• OpenWeatherMap — For weather data. Privacy Policy
• Matrix.org — For chat functionality. Privacy Policy
• Infobip — For Premium call features. Privacy Policy
• RSS Feeds — For news aggregation. Third-party news sources have their own policies.
• Plausible Analytics — GDPR-compliant analytics (no cookies, no personal data). Privacy Policy
• GitHub — For hosting our repository. Privacy Policy

5. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA Compliant)

Since we collect no personal data, your rights are automatically protected. However, you still have:

• Right to be forgotten — Clear your browser's localStorage to remove all settings
• Right to access — Check your browser's developer tools → Application → Local Storage
• Right to rectification — Change settings anytime in the Settings page
• Right to portability — Export your localStorage data (it's just JSON)
• Right to object — Don't use optional features that share data with third parties

6. Data Security

• HTTPS everywhere — All connections are encrypted
• No server-side storage — Your data stays on your device or your chosen third-party service
• End-to-end encryption — Matrix chat messages are E2EE by default
• Secure payment processing — Payments go through Stripe/PayPal, never through our servers

7. Children's Privacy

HandiHomepage is designed for users of all ages, including seniors and families. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will ensure its removal (though we likely never received it).

8. International Data Transfers

Your data (when YOU choose to share it with third parties) may be transferred to servers outside your country. For example:

• OpenWeatherMap servers (worldwide)
• Matrix homeserver (you choose which one — .org, .ie, etc.)
• Infobip (global infrastructure)

By using these features, you consent to these transfers. HandiHomepage itself stores nothing on servers.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices. The "Last Updated" date will change. Material changes will be announced on our website. Your continued use constitutes acceptance of updates.
